National BPA Student Leadership Summit

November 6, 2021: The National BPA Student Leadership Summit will be an engaging experience focused on networking with fellow student members, career pathway awareness opportunities, best practices for competition preparation, and awareness of resources. National BPA will host this virtual summit with a focus on multiple facets of BPA 365 (year-round) opportunities and best practices for leadership development.

The National Center is thrilled to announce that the Keynote speaker for this event will be Sam Demma! At 22 years old, entrepreneur, youth coach, and keynote speaker Sam Demma doesn’t let his age define his drive or credibility. His goal is to provide people of all ages with the tools and strategies they need to become the change-makers in their schools, businesses, communities, and in the lives of those around them.  In a few short years, his inspiring and entertaining presentations have reached thousands of students across Canada and his High Performing Student program has made a difference for young people in 6 countries around the world. He’s delivered two TEDx talks, he is the youngest Board Director of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, and there’s no limit to where small actions will take this big thinker.

Registration Fee: $10/student (BPA "Leader" Conference T-shirts can be purchased for an additional $15). Register here: https://members.bpa.org/fallconferences/.

National Officers Adopt "Executive Council" Name

The student leaders of Business Professionals of America, officially referred to as the "Executive Council" in our organization's governing documents, but informally referred to as the "National Officers" for countless years, are asking BPA stakeholders to shift our organizational terminology. Given that we now have an international student officer, the term "National Officer" no longer aligns appropriately with every member of the team.

"In an effort to be more inclusive and reflect that members of our team can come from any BPA chapter, we will be referred to as the Executive Council, collectively, and as Executive Officers, individually,” said John Lucas Guimaraes, Post-secondary National President.

The Secondary Division Executive Council is composed of up to six officers and the Post-secondary Division Executive Council is composed of up to four officers. Grace (Siyue) Tang, elected the 2021-2022 Secondary Division Secretary, is from an international independent chapter in China.

The National BPA website and other resources will be updated to reflect this new terminology.

Meet the Secondary and Post-secondary members of the Executive Council.

CPA Evolution – What Aspiring CPAs Need to Know
It’s never been a more exciting time to pursue the CPA license. The role of today’s CPA has evolved, and newly licensed CPAs are taking on new responsibilities that were traditionally assigned to more experienced staff. Becoming a CPA means you’ll need deeper skill sets, more competencies and a greater knowledge of emerging technologies. That’s why the CPA licensure model is changing. A restructured version of the CPA Exam, aligned with the CPA Evolution initiative, will launch in 2024. This exclusive AICPA Student Member webcast is meant for anyone who plans to test during that time, even if you start the Exam process before the updated Exam launches.
